Capturing Mark Appleyard’s Legendary 360 Flip – Behind the Shot

Take a trip back in time to 2011, to an Element Skate Demo at the legendary TAZ Skatepark in Montreal.
Watch as Mark Appleyard sends it, while Nyjah Huston, the man in red, watches from the sidelines due to a foot injury.
In this video, I'm sharing one of my all-time favorite skateboard shots. This time, I had my GoPro with me—a rarity since I'm usually the one behind the camera.

For years, I've collected small snippets of videos in this video I am trying a new format with voice over to bring some context to those clips.
The gear I used for this shoot included the film camera Canon EOS 1, my reliable Canon 40D, a Samyang 8mm fisheye, and a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8.
To complement this setup, I used a remote flash triggered with a Canon speedlight and using a Manfrotto multi-pipe clamp.
